Alina M. Shriver was the Director of Britto Central, Inc. from 1995 -1998. Since then she has served as President of Licensing and Special Projects for Pop-artist Romero Britto. Shriver initiated and developed licensing opportunities and project-based artistic commissions on behalf of Britto, as well as coordinating the only Britto monumental sculpture to be erected to date. Forging Britto’s artistic energy with positive applications of his work in various marketing and product-development campaigns, Alina has collaborated with Britto and directed such diverse endeavors as an innovative advertising campaign for Volvo North America. A new bottle for Absolut Vodka and has assisted Britto with such projects with companies such as Grand Marnier, Donald J. Pliner, Nicole Miller and many others. Also, Alina has developed various exhibition projects for Britto within the US, Japan, Brazil, and France, that have garnered the international press, and the valued recognition of art critics, such as Eileen Guggenheim. Most recently Shriver took over the distinguished position of exclusive Publisher and Distributor for Britto. Combining her long standing interest in the performance and visual arts with her keen entrepreneurial business sense she embarked in a new phase of the Britto/Shriver team! Shriver Art has put together an energetic team of fine art consultants and creative ideas for expansion opportunities. The mission of Shriver Art is to elevate Britto’s already recognized and respected work to new levels of international distribution, acclaim, and expanded acquisition by collectors worldwide.In addition to her professional career, Alina is actively involved in many aspects of Best Buddies International, having served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1994. Alina participated in the organization’s original expansion within the South Florida market beginning in 1992, and has since personally supported Best Buddies relative to its programmatic, community-sponsorship and marketing vitality in South Florida and nationally. Alina is also a patron of the Miami City Ballet and was a past member of the ballet company’s School Board, in which she is particularly involved in raising funds for the establishment of an inner-city youth ballet program within Miami-Dade County. A graduate of Barry University with a degree in Spanish Literature, Alina was raised in South Florida where she lives with her husband Anthony K. As a creative yet impoverished child from Brazil, Britto often painted images on scraps of cardboard and newspaper. Britto traveled from Brazil to Europe and then from Europe to the United States to exhibit and sell his art. His resolve was strong and his belief in his art was unshakable. Collectors of Romeo's work include Michael Jordan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Whitney Houston as well as the Guggenheims, Rothschilds, Kennedys, Mitterands and former Whitney Museum President, William Woodside. Today, the heir apparent of neo-pop cubism holds an extraordinarily bright future in the palms of his talented hands.The label 'neo-pop cubism,' indicates Britto's links with certain artists and antecedent styles. Pop Art was a movement that began in the mid 1950's. It combines images of popular culture taken from the mass media with art. The cubist elements in Britto's work should hardly surprise critics, few artists in modern times have escaped the long shadows cast by Picasso and Braque. Britto's individual style has emerged from these influences, while he incorporates his own style using vibrant colors, pop imagery, & playful patterns of flowers and swirls as well as an inventive use of his signature within his paintings. Vital to the essence of Britto's art is its unrestrained optimistic outlook on life. Over the years, Britto has lent his talent and energy to many philanthropic causes. In the summer of 1999, a Britto original, "Cheek to Cheek," brought $100,000 at live auction to the Agassi Foundation in Las Vegas, Nevada . It is a tremendous personal reward for Britto that his art is capable of inspiring others to give.To date, Britto's art is shown in over 140 galleries nationwide. He has been profiled in numerous national publications including People , Art News , Variety and Leaders . His studio in Miami Beach, Florida is open to the public and has become a meeting place for school children, collectors and art enthusiasts.
